“You did this, mate.”
I stepped onto a school stage to perform. The room stood up in applause. It was the first time I understood that telling a story well could change a room.
Kiyan Singh is a South African operator shaped by music, sport, storytelling, and the rooms where strangers become one. He calls that moment Electric.
NEW YORK → DURBAN / 2026
My word for it
Electric is the moment a room becomes more than the people inside it. You feel it when a performance lands, when a stadium moves as one, or when a conversation changes what seemed possible. I have spent my life watching for it. The goal is to create that.
Move to tune the field
Two rooms / One recognition
“You did this, mate.”
I stepped onto a school stage to perform. The room stood up in applause. It was the first time I understood that telling a story well could change a room.
“We f***ing did it.”
Barcelona against AC Milan. Every crisis contained. At the end, I met Zlatan Ibrahimović on the field. The work was never for me. It was for everyone in the stands.
Same current. Different scale. This portfolio is the story of learning how to produce that feeling, intentionally.
Six transmissions / one through-line
Music taught me to feel, sport showed me we could unify, and operations taught me how to build it.
I learned early, through performing and public speaking, that a story can change the temperature of a room. The first time an audience stood in applause, I remember thinking: you did this, mate. Music taught me to feel that shift before I knew how to explain it.
THE ROOM STOOD UP IN APPLAUSE. / THE FIRST SIGNAL
I was never the best player. I became the person who watched the crowd as closely as I watched the match. In 2010, I witnessed South Africa unified to one frequency. Live entertainment showed me what happens when thousands of private lives suddenly become one unified feeling.
“FOOTBALL IS THE UNIFYING FORCE OF ALL MAN.” / MY GRANDFATHER
At Soldier Field, Chicago, Barcelona faced AC Milan. Credentials were missing. The sponsor tarp was gone. Flights were cancelled. We were men down, merchandise had not arrived, and executives were walking in. Not a single ball was dropped.
WE F***ING DID IT. 70,000 PEOPLE GOT THE GAME WE PROMISED THEM.
American soccer had been treated like the bastard child: underfunded, underestimated, but loved fiercely. Six founders built a place for that loyal audience and the next fan beside them. By January, we had grown to 17 people. Since I left, the company has grown to 36. We all had a voice.
06 FOUNDERS / 17 IN JANUARY / 36 TODAY
Across 250+ venues, the artist should still feel considered: the same scent on arrival, the same products and robes, then local coffee, food trucks, and a map made by people who know the city. Watching Journey at Paycom Arena, the scale hit me. I had made it back to music.
GLOBAL STANDARD. LOCAL CARE. EVERY DETAIL EARNS THE RETURN.
New York gave me structure, culture, knowledge, and satisfied my curiosity a little. South Africa gives me my home, my people, and my history. Hluma is the first vessel for bringing the tools home and investing them where they are needed.

Formation / Curiosity as a method
I arrived at boarding school as a curious 13-year-old. New York did not cure the curiosity. It gave it structure, culture, and more difficult questions. Every summer made the theory answer to the real world.

South Africa gave me the questions.
New York taught me to build answers.
Boarding school / South Africa
I arrived at 13 because I was curious. During Covid, I led OurHouse, “by the boys, for the boys,” growing it from 1.4K to 8K+ followers and using the school’s social voice to keep a community together and speak into a moment of change.
The first major
I arrived through the passion that first taught me to move a room. Then I realised music would keep teaching me for life. University needed to teach me how to think.
The self-authored major
A graduate political-theory class, taken by mistake, taught me that political theory is really the theory of people. I designed a concentration in International Investment and International Politics to study power, incentive, and how public and private systems can leave people better.
Business + culture
Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology explained the industries I grew up around. Art History and Classics showed how people use images, myths, and inherited ideas to understand change. Together they became studies in soft power: how stories reveal a new world and move people toward it.
Photography / A way of seeing
My father taught me to shoot when I was a kid. People, animals, architecture, scenes, plants. The camera trained the same instinct I use in rooms now: notice what others move past.

Attention is not separate from the work.
It is where the work begins.
Selected work / Case files
Five operating systems across live sport, media, venues, brand, and film. Choose a case to see the brief, the build, and the result.
The brand had to travel coherently across six matchdays, five global clubs, and one summer-long home for football fans in New York.
Turn a multi-million-dollar title sponsorship into one operating system across stadium, digital, broadcast, hospitality, and a fan-facing flagship.
Manager, Product & Partnership; right hand to the General Manager
Led execution of the DIRECTV title-sponsorship programme, coordinating and executing brand deliverables across DIRECTV, club partners, and six host stadiums.
Created the first-of-its-kind 38-day DIRECTV Champions Lounge at Legends 33 in New York.
Worked directly with five global clubs on requirements and match-day execution across the $35M+ platform.
Created tour and sponsor merchandise that opened new revenue for Soccer Champions Tour and DIRECTV.
Co-produced the tour’s creator-led social content with Claudia Pagán; DIRECTV reported it as the brand’s best-performing social asset to date.

The unfinished work / The return
“I can continue to grow and invest my time in America. But South Africa is where my heart is, where I hope to give my life. New York gave me structure, culture, knowledge, and satisfied my curiosity a little. South Africa gives me my home, my people, and my history.”
I want to help build the South Africa that briefly remembered itself in 2010: not by romanticising the past, but by taking its unfinished work personally.
Read “The Mandela I knew” ↗The operating system
I work in the space between the brief and the real world: the point where creative ambition needs structure, judgment, and relentless follow-through.
Read the room, find the emotional truth, and set a standard people can feel before they can explain it.
↗Turn ambiguity into a clear problem, a persuasive story, and a brief that gives every person a way in.
↗Move through budgets, suppliers, talent, politics, risk, and deadlines without losing the original feeling.
↗The work is not complete when it ships. It is complete when somebody else gets to feel, belong, or grow through it.
↗I care deeply about the work. I move quickly and hold a high standard. The discipline is knowing where to focus that energy so the work, and the people around it, can be at their best.

Fat Mans Society / white clothes, cheese, philosophy, WednesdaysTHE CAUSE
I have seen music move a room and football move a stadium, the same way they both shake the world. I have learned how ideas survive budgets, partners, deadlines, and scale. I could keep investing those tools somewhere that does not need them. I am choosing to take them home.
